We are hiring an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to lead safety management on USACE and NAVFAC construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and manage Accident Prevention Plans (APP), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), crane and rigging plans
  • Conduct daily site inspections and safety reporting to maintain full compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards
  • Lead safety meetings and provide on-site safety education for subcontractors and site personnel
  • Maintain safety documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, SDS lists, and deficiency tracking systems
  • Coordinate safety efforts with Quality Control Managers and Superintendents on new definable features of work
  • Manage site-specific safety activities such as confined space, lockout/tagout, and abatement processes
  • Investigate incidents, complete accident reports, and enforce all safety requirements on site
  • Conduct 1st day site safety orientations and continuous safety training

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of construction safety experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an approved SSHO on USACE or NAVFAC construction projects
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification or equivalent
  • Certifications in fall protection, HAZWOPER 40, lead awareness, bloodborne pathogens, confined space management, competent person training (excavation, scaffolding, fall protection, hazardous energy control), first aid/CPR, forklift, man-lift, fire watch, and others
  • Proven record of completing 24+ hours of formal safety training annually for 4+ years
  • Strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1, OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 standards
  • Proficiency with RMS or QCS software systems
