Job summary

CEG Solutions is seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer to lead on-site safety across construction projects. The SSHO will ensure ISO 45001 compliance, manage safety programs, and enforce the Safety Accident Prevention Plan.

You will oversee health surveillance, inspections, and safety documentation while coordinating with subcontractors to maintain site standards and safety culture. Arlington, VA area preferred for daily on-site presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety-related field is preferred but not required.
• 5+ years in construction safety management and on-site field work.
• Experience with OH&S systems and ISO 45001 preferred.
• US citizenship with ability to obtain government clearance.
• OSHA-30, CSP or ASP certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SSHO reporting to the Director of Site Safety Employee Health.
• Implement, maintain, and monitor OH&S Management System per ISO 45001.
• Enforce Safety Accident Prevention Plan and track deficiencies.
• Write safety proposals, training materials, and inspection tools.
• Ensure subcontractor safety compliance with site standards.
• Assist with project scheduling and site access/deliveries.
• Identify risks and mitigation strategies during implementation.
• Support business development and field data collection.
• Perform other field or office duties as assigned.

As Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) within our growing team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks related to our projects and firm including assisting in day-to-day operations on the project site and managing safety. You will be on site during construction and will be responsible for the safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement. Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation with an acute passion for implementing sustainable energy solutions for the next generation of buildings and facilities. Location: Our office location is in Arlington, VA. and the client project location is in Washington DC. Applicants must be within a commutable distance to Washington DC or be willing to relocate for this opportunity. You will be required to be at the construction site daily.

Critical responsibilities include:

• Serve as SSHO reporting directly to the Director of Site Safety Employee Health.
• Carries out all activities in relation to the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the OH&S Management System complying with ISO 45001.
• Manage, implement, and enforce the accepted Safety Accident Prevention Plan
• Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Distribute a list of unresolved safety and health deficiencies.
• Write Safety proposals, interpret regulations, develop training, draft inspection standards and draft safety assessment tools.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with CEG and site-specific safety standards, codes, regulations.
• Assist with the management of project schedules.
• Assist with site access, including all site visits and deliveries.
• Assist with identifying unknown risks, managing risk impact and how they will be addressed and mitigated.
• Assist in project and business development responsibilities during development and implementation.
• Collect field information and pictures as necessary.
• Perform other field or office duties as assigned.

Required qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field (preferred not required)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and safety management required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with construction, construction management, or on-site field work.
• A passion in the areas of energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability.
• US Citizen with ability to achieve government security clearance.

• Knowledge of EM 385 would be a plus but not required.
• OSHA-30, CSP, ASP certification is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee where risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
