Job DescriptionSite Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) – Federal Construction | Spokane, WA

Location: Spokane, WA (On-site)

About the Role:

Advanced Technology Construction (ATC), a growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is hiring a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for federal construction projects in the Spokane area. This position is responsible for enforcing site safety and health protocols in accordance with government standards, while fostering a culture of zero incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary on-site safety authority for all field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Ensure full compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA 1926, and project-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct and document daily safety inspections, toolbox talks, AHA reviews, and safety meetings.
  • Maintain all safety logs, reports, and correspondence required by the federal client.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Control Manager and Superintendent to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Interface with government safety representatives and respond to any findings or incidents promptly.

Minimum Qualifications (Required by Federal Client):

  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • At least 5 years of safety experience on federal construction projects of similar size and scope.
  • In-depth knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and USACE/NAVFAC safety protocols
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for federal site access)

Qualifications:

  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Experience managing site safety for VA, USACE, or NAVFAC projects
  • Experience with AHAs, submittal safety compliance, and incident investigation procedures
  • Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications in line with federal project standards.
