The Apple Maps Application Services SRE team is seeking a self-starter, problem solver, and team player to help scale our next-generation infrastructure. You’ll take ownership of crafting and optimizing critical systems, ensuring our stack remains modern, resilient, and high-performing. Applying SRE best practices, you will ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of our systems and services.

Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the reliability and scalability of backend services powering Apple Maps worldwide.
2. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design resilient infrastructure solutions based on requirements.
3. Develop automation for large-scale service deployments.
4. Implement observability frameworks to proactively detect and resolve issues.
5. Drive performance improvements across distributed systems.
6. Manage end-to-end service health, participate in on-call rotations, and lead incident responses.
7. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design and code reviews.
8. Shape the future scaling strategies for Apple Maps Application Services.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Operations roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience with container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes; Helm is a plus.
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Experience deploying, operating, and maintaining services in Kubernetes environments.
• Strong understanding of SRE principles: monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault-tolerance.
• Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Splunk.
• Proficiency in Linux, networking, and systems management fundamentals.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language: Java, Python, or Go.
• Ability to identify architectural gaps and develop solutions collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-cloud environments, especially AWS and Google Cloud.
• Contributions to cloud migration or modernization projects.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.

Pay & Benefits
