Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer - Windows Platform Services to ensure reliability, performance, and security for Windows Server environments within a large-scale Navy-Marine Corps Intranet context.

The role focuses on maintaining Windows Server administration, patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance across enterprise environments, including coordination with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Typically 2–5 years of IT experience in Windows Server / enterprise IT environments.
• Strong communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Current Security+ certification.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Ability to work an afternoon/night shift, Tuesday through Saturday, at the customer location.
• Experience building Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 systems and performing patching/IAVA remediation.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 systems.
• Support the full IT infrastructure lifecycle including planning, installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades and decommissioning.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve OS, infrastructure, patching and application-related issues.
• Support critical enterprise applications in coordination with internal teams, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Position Overview

The Site Reliability Engineer - Windows Platform Services focuses on the reliability, performance, and scalability of complex distributed systems. Under the SMIT Contract, the Leidos team is responsible for the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, network engineering, service desk, seat support services, and data transport.
This role supports the Windows Platform Services team, which maintains, supports, and secures Windows Server operating systems within a large-scale enterprise environment. The position supports Windows Server administration, patching, IAVA vulnerability mitigation, STIG remediation, troubleshooting, and operational support for mission-critical systems and services.

Key Responsibilities

Windows Server Administration and Support

• Build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 systems.
• Support the full IT infrastructure lifecycle, including planning, installation, configuration, ongoing administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operating system, infrastructure, patching, and application-related issues.
• Support critical enterprise applications, infrastructure, and services in coordination with internal technical teams, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Patching, Vulnerability Remediation, and Compliance

• Perform Windows Server patching, IAVA vulnerability remediation, and security compliance activities across supported environments.
• Ensure Windows Server platforms remain compliant with established operational policies, security requirements, and industry standards.
• Perform STIG remediation and support ongoing cybersecurity compliance activities.

Reliability, Operations, and Technical Improvement

• Participate in projects and operational initiatives of moderate complexity, providing technical analysis, recommendations, and implementation support.
• Exercise independent judgment within established processes and procedures to identify appropriate technical solutions and corrective actions.
• Evaluate unique technical situations and provide recommendations to improve system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.

Team and Mission Support

• Collaborate effectively with internal and external teams while supporting mission-critical systems and services.
• Support work performed at the customer location to sustain unclassified or classified environments.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.

Experience

• Typically 2–5 years of relevant IT experience. [Required]
• Experience supporting Windows Server or enterprise IT environments. [Required]

Skills

Certifications

• Current Security+ certification. [Required]
• Additional technical certifications related to Windows Server administration, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, or infrastructure operations are a plus.
