Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer II to advance the reliability, security, and performance of our Zero Trust platform. You will own automation, cloud operations, and monitoring for our cutting-edge security services, collaborating with cross-functional teams to keep services available for customers worldwide.

The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience, strong scripting (Python/Go/Shell), and hands-on work with AWS, Kubernetes, Prometheus, and the ELK stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant SRE/DevOps experience.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.
• Proficient in Python, Go, and Shell scripting.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix networking and protocols (DNS/HTTP/TCP/IP).
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of critical systems.
• Design, implement, and maintain automation tools and processes.

In this role you'll provide advanced cloud operations for the top-of-the-line security products on the market, including our unique Zero Trust Security platform. You'll be focusing on a cutting-edge suite of services to ensure application and network performance, reliability and security for users connecting through the Akamai Zero Trust platform.

As a Site Reliability Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of critical systems and services


• Designing, implementing, and maintaining automation tools and processes to streamline and enhance operational tasks, system provisioning, and configuration management.


• Implementing and maintaining robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact users.


• Collaborating with the security team to implement and maintain best practices for securing systems and data.


• Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and drive the adoption of new technologies to enhance system reliability and efficiency.


• Identifying and optimize performance bottlenecks in systems, applications, and infrastructure components.


• Maintaining high availability of an infrastructure. Continuous integration and continuous delivery of the platform

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent


• Possess experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar role. Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices is ideal.


• Have programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, Shell).


• Have experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).


• Possess in-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and networking concepts, including network protocols such as DNS/HTTP/TCP/IP


• Have proficiency in configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).


• Possess familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).


• Able to work in a dynamic environment. Must have good problem solving skills

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 - $171,000/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
