Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to join our remote-friendly team in the United States. You will partner across software, operations and network teams to ensure reliability and scalability of our network infrastructure and services.

You will define requirements, develop automation for CI/CD, set SLOs, and mentor peers while shaping architectural standards for Akamai Connected Cloud. The role blends hands-on engineering with leadership and strategic impact.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Network Reliability Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps with large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
  • Understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
  • Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code review, and writing scripts using Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $146,400 - $263,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
