Weekday (YC W21) in New York City is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our engineering team. You will ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our production systems and cloud infrastructure.

The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and operations, focusing on automation, observability, distributed systems, and building highly reliable platforms that scale with business growth.

Qualifications

• 2-8 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Cloud/Infra Engineering.
• Experience administering Linux/Unix systems.
• Hands-on with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong Docker and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Terraform or other IaC tools.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Go, Bash, Java).
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong networking, DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and security fundamentals.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and observability platforms.
• Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, HA, and fault tolerance.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable production infrastructure.
• Improve reliability, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Develop automation to eliminate repetitive tasks and reduce manual work.
• Manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments.
• Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
• Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability across systems.
• Work with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and participate in incident response and RCA.
• Define and monitor SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements; disaster recovery planning.
• Collaborate with engineers to build reliable applications; participate in on-call rotations.
• Document infrastructure and incident learnings.
