Job summary

ModMed, headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to secure, scale, and optimize our cloud-based platform. You will lead automation and observability initiatives across a dynamic healthcare IT environment, enabling developers to move fast while maintaining reliability.

You’ll drive containerization and orchestration with Kubernetes, monitor performance, implement cost controls, and mentor teammates to elevate our cloud-native capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Cloud/SRE
• Deep hands-on AWS security, performance tuning, and cost management
• Proficiency with DataDog, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and scripting languages (Python, Bash)
• Strong networking, cloud security, CI/CD best practices, and Windows Server/IIS administration
• Leadership and mentoring experience
• Excellent communication to explain technical concepts to stakeholders
• Passion for reliability, automation, and building scalable cloud-native systems

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure for security, performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
• Enhance DataDog monitoring and observability to detect and resolve issues
• Provide self-service access through GitOps, APIs, UIs, and automation tools
• Lead Kubernetes initiatives for efficiency, scalability, and resilience
• Continuously tune performance and reduce cloud costs
• Respond to incidents and troubleshoot across AWS environments
• Ensure cloud security and regulatory compliance
• Improve CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and AWS services
• Mentor junior engineers and promote operational excellence
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to deliver AWS-based solutions

Job Description Summary:

ModMed is seeking a driven Site Reliability Engineer to join our high-performing, collaborative, and passionate team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring our cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient, enabling our developers to move fast while building innovative solutions that truly Modernize Medicine.

This is a hands-on position where you’ll lead automation, observability, and performance initiatives across a dynamic healthcare IT environment, helping shape the future of our cloud-native platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Administer and optimize AWS environments for security, performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Monitoring & Observability: Enhance DataDog monitoring to proactively detect and resolve issues.
• Developer Empowerment: Standardize infrastructure and provide self-service access through GitOps, APIs, UIs, and other automation tools.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Lead Kubernetes initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and resilience.
• Performance Tuning & Cost Optimization: Continuously improve cloud performance and reduce costs through smart resource management.

• Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Quickly diagnose and resolve complex issues across AWS environments.
• Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for cloud security and regulatory compliance.

• CI/CD Optimization: Improve deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and AWS services for fast and reliable releases.

• Mentorship & Collaboration: Guide junior engineers, foster learning, and promote a culture of operational excellence.
• Cross-Functional Partnerships: Work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver AWS-based solutions that meet business objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years in Cloud/Site Reliability Engineering.
• Cloud Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with AWS, including security, performance tuning, and cost management.
• Automation & Tooling: Proficiency with DataDog, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking, cloud security, CI/CD best practices, and Windows Server/IIS administration.
• Leadership: Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive technical initiatives.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, able to clearly explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Mindset: Passionate about reliability, automation, and building scalable, cloud-native systems in a fast-paced environment.
