Description
Job Description

The Site Operations Technician is a hands-on role responsible for the reliable operation of facility technology systems, the integrity of operational data, and the ongoing maintenance and coordination of site equipment. Working at the intersection of physical infrastructure and digital operations, this role ensures that facility technology and automation assets perform at peak efficiency, that data flowing through site systems is accurate and actionable, and that vendor relationships and reporting obligations are managed with consistency and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Technology Management
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot facility technology systems including access control, networking hardware, measurement and tracking devices (scales, location sensors, environmental sensors), and operational automation tools.
  • Perform routine audits of site technology to identify degradation, gaps in coverage, or configuration drift and resolve issues proactively.
  • Coordinate and oversee technology installations, upgrades, and decommissions in alignment with facility change-management procedures.
  • Maintain current documentation of all site technology assets, configurations, and network diagrams.
Data Accuracy & Integrity
  • Serve as the on-site steward for operational data quality, ensuring that data captured from facility systems, sensors, and manual inputs is complete, consistent, and timely.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in coordination with operations and data engineering teams.
  • Enforce data entry standards and train site staff on proper data capture procedures to minimize errors at the source.
  • Support data validation of workflows and flag anomalies to appropriate stakeholders for remediation.
Equipment & Hardware Maintenance
  • Execute and track preventive maintenance schedules for facility hardware, handheld devices, printers, terminals, and other operational equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair first-level hardware failures; elevate complex issues to vendors or specialist technicians and work issues through resolution.
  • Manage spare parts and consumable inventory to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is operational, properly calibrated, and compliant with safety standards and applicable state and local regulations.
Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for technology and equipment vendors, coordinating service visits, repairs, and installations.
  • Review vendors work orders and validate that completed work meets contracted scope, quality, and safety requirements before sign-off.
  • Track vendor SLAs, elevate chronic performance issues, and provide feedback to procurement and operations leadership.
  • Maintain a current vendor contact directory and service contract log for all site-supported systems.
Operational Partnership
  • Partner with Facility Operations Management to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and to drive continuous operational efficiency.
  • Produce regular operational reports and dashboards covering system uptime, equipment maintenance status, data quality metrics, and open incidents, giving leadership clear visibility into site health.
  • Identify trends in operational data that indicate emerging issues and surface process gaps or improvement opportunities with recommended corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Site Operations Technicians at other sites to share best practices, align operational and technology processes, and ensure consistency across the network.
  • Work with software teams to provide field feedback on software performance and usability, and assist in the deployment, testing, and rollout of software upgrades across site systems.
Requirements
QualificationsRequired
  • 3–5 years of experience in a technical operations, field services, or facilities technology role.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and software issues independently.
  • Experience with data entry quality control, operational reporting, or similar data stewardship responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, open work orders, and vendor interactions simultaneously.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred
  • Associate degree or vocational certification in Information Technology, Electronics, Industrial Automation / Controls Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with IoT devices, building automation systems, or industrial sensor networks.
  • Background in logistics, warehouse, or distribution center environments.
  • Ability to safely operate powered material handling and lift equipment, such as forklifts, high lifts / aerial work platforms, and pallet jacks; current operator certification a plus.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, on-site position. The role requires regular movement throughout the facility, including mechanical rooms, server closets, and loading areas. The technician must be able to lift to 50 lbs, work in varying temperature environments, and occasionally be available for after-hours support during critical system events.
