Edged Data Centers is a provider of sustainable data centers and energy infrastructure. The North American division is a joint venture focusing on waterless cooling, AI-ready data centers, and rapid deployment across Europe and North America. The platform includes renewable microgrid systems, ultra-clean generators, and waste-to-fuel solutions, with more than a dozen data centers operating or under construction and a gigawatt-scale project pipeline.
Opportunity
The Data Center Site Operations Manager will be a vital member of the leadership team of the North American division. The role requires experience leading data center operations focused on critical infrastructure, physical security, and network. The candidate must have knowledge of large-scale data centers, including electrical distribution systems, emergency generation, fire alarm/suppression, and site monitoring systems. The mission is to manage uptime and safety while maximizing supplier performance. The role involves planning, preparation, and field execution according to internal procedures.
Responsibilities
- Execute all aspects of data center operations including operation, maintenance, and repair of all mission critical equipment and systems (electrical, mechanical, and network) to achieve 100% uptime and 100% compliance with customer SLAs.
- Manage provisioning of data center services including colocation, connectivity, HAC services, deployment, and additional services for data center customers.
- Supervise local engineering team to ensure adherence to SOPs, sequence of operations, and maintenance standards; guarantee execution of maintenance programs and calendars.
- Develop, implement, and audit local SOPs, sequences of operations, and maintenance standards to align with Edged standards and industry best practices.
- Oversee local change management processes, including review and approval of all MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for maintenance and one-time/emergency repairs in coordination with onsite personnel, contractors, and customers.
- Manage maintenance and repair contracts to ensure compliance with standards and operational requirements; verify vendors are qualified and meet performance standards and scopes of work.
- Act as primary technical and operational contact for data center customers as technical lead and local escalation point during emergencies and day-to-day operations; develop knowledge of the customer's core business.
- Manage technical and operational incidents, including emergency response procedures, resource coordination, customer communication, root-cause analysis, and post-event remediation.
- Identify trends and analyze risks to communicate implications and impact on data center operations. Track operational metrics and data for senior management oversight and trend analysis.
- Manage expenses and budget/forecast/report requirements; support pre-sales processes including tours and reviewing lease proposals to ensure compliance with Edged standards and local requirements.
- Support accreditation initiatives and maintain compliance with local health & safety standards.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
- 10+ years managing engineering or technical staff
- 5+ years project/program management
- 5+ years engaging internal or external customers and resolving issues
- 4+ years managing multi-year budgets
- Solid experience in commissioning, acceptance, and operation of mission critical systems
- Experience in colocation operations, including installation of cage, rack, cable infrastructure, power circuit installation, and power monitoring
- Experience managing a change control environment
- Certifications/Accreditations (positively viewed): ITIL v2/3/4, CDCP, AOS
- Advanced in Microsoft Office 365
