Job summary

St. John’s Community Care is seeking a Site Manager to oversee an adult day program. The role reports to the Adult Day Program Director and focuses on developing and maintaining a safe, engaging, and dignified experience for participants while supporting families and caregivers.

The Site Manager will assess needs, plan activities, supervise staff and volunteers, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This is a full-time, hourly position in Illinois.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s or professional degree (e.g., RN).
  • Experience in supervising staff or volunteers.
  • Ability to work with participants with dementia or cognitive impairment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate approach.
  • Proven ability to manage programs and staffing.

Responsibilities

  • Explain the program to prospective participants and caregivers.
  • Conduct assessment and intake.
  • Plan and supervise activities.

  • Ensure safety of participants during sessions, arrival, and dismissal.
  • Review care plans with the Program Nurse.
  • Ensure dietary component meets Health Department regulations.
  • Maintain snacks and related provisions.

Job description

The Site Manager works under the supervision of the Adult Day Program Director to develop and maintain a successful program and continually assess and meet the needs of the participants and staff in the program. The goals of the program are to

  • Provide a safe, enjoyable experience for the
  • Focus activities to emphasize the remaining abilities and strengths of participants, while accommodating their limitations.
  • Provide opportunities for social interactions that enhance each participant’s sense of belonging, self-worth, and dignity.
  • Support family caregivers through providing an alternative care setting, opportunities for respite, educational materials, an atmosphere of acceptance, and referrals to other
WORK SCHEDULE:

The position of the Site Manager is a full-time, hourly position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Explaining the program to prospective participants and their caregivers
  • Assessment and intake
  • Planning and supervising activities
  • Leading activities; being directly involved with participants during program sessions
  • Supervising staff program assistants and volunteers
  • Assuring the safety of participants during program sessions as well as during arrival and dismissal times
  • Reviewing care plans for individual participants as prepared by the Program Nurse
  • Assuring the program meets the needs of participants and their caregivers
  • Assuring the dietary component continues to meet Health Department regulations
  • Assuring that morning and afternoon snack foods are appropriate and available.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Report elder abuse/neglect of seniors or persons with disabilities, aged 18-59, to Illinois Department on Aging Hotline (800-252-8966) or local office (236-5863), as mandated by state law.
Shared responsibilities with the Adult Day Program Director
  • Assuring adequate staffing is in place for the number of participants
  • Assisting in ongoing maintenance of relevant policies and procedures
  • Developing and implementing plans to meet needs of all participants
  • Assisting with interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and terminating program staff in accordance with policies and legal requirements in coordination with Adult Day Program Director
  • Conducting annual appraisals of program staff in coordination with Adult Day Program Director
  • Networking in the community about SJCC’s programs and services
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or professional degree (e.g., RN) in a related
  • Experience and/or professional training relating to the care of individuals with dementia and or other cognitive Nursing, geriatric, or social work degree and experience are a plus.
  • Minimum of three years employment in a supervisory, management, or professional position
  • Demonstrated ability to deal professionally, patiently, compassionately, and non- judgmentally with participants and family members.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise both volunteer and paid Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, internet)
  • Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance coverage of at least $50,000/$100,000
  • Sincere commitment to meeting the goals of the program
REQUIREMENTS:

The Site Manager must:

  • Complete an application including authorization to check references, to conduct criminal record checks, and to obtain a driving record abstract.
  • Have (or be willing to obtain) and maintain Food Safety Manager certification
  • Treat all participants, family members, co-workers, and volunteers with dignity and acceptance
  • Respect the confidentiality of all program participants and their families at all times
  • Address concerns relating to program and participants (participant behaviors, family stress, success/failure of activities, inappropriate staff behavior, etc.) in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Pursue continuing education on caring for cognitively-impaired and disabled individuals through the Alzheimer’s Association, networking with other care providers, and attending conferences and training as feasiblePresent a professional appearance
  • Abide by all policies and procedures of John’s Community Care
  • Contribute to the positive culture of our organization through teamwork, relationships with colleagues inside and outside the organization, and commitment to our mission.
