Job summary

Mental Health Partnerships is seeking a full-time Site Maintenance & Repair Technician to maintain and repair facilities across locations in the Philadelphia area. The role involves electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC tasks, and general site upkeep, with on-call emergency coverage and a Monday–Friday schedule.

The position requires 5 years of maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong customer-service skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of facilities maintenance experience.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes assigned facilities requests; may drive to sites.
  • Performs site inspections and bi-monthly site inspection forms.
  • Ensures safety items (fire extinguishers, exit lights, evacuation placards) are functional per OSHA/local codes.
  • Performs minor electrical repairs (ballasts, sockets, switches, outlets).
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs (clogged toilets, faucets, drains).
  • Performs minor carpentry repairs (doors, frames, windows, tiles).
  • Paints structures; maintains painting equipment.
  • Sets up workstations and conference rooms as needed.
  • Performs monthly vehicle inspections and maintenance.

MHP is hiring a full time Site Maintenance & Repair Technician to perform duties related to building maintenance, such as tasks related to moves, relocation of staff, construction of work stations, floor care, performs site inspections. Site Maintenance & Repair Technicians also perform basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC work/repairs.

The position is located at 833 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (flexible work schedule). The pay rate is $21.00 - $26.00 per hour based on your experience. As an MHP employee, you will have access to the following benefits:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Completes assigned facilities requests as required; ensures requests are completed properly. Providing these services may require driving to various MHP locations.
  • Performs Site Inspections and completes and submits bi-monthly Site Inspection Forms.
  • Ensures that all safety items such as fire extinguishers, emergency/exit lights, evacuation placards, etc. are functional and in place; adheres to all OSHA and local codes as required.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance/repairs to including, to changing light ballasts, sockets, minor appliances repair/replace switches, outlets, receptacles, etc.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance/repairs to including, clearing clogged toilets/drain lines, repairing washer/dryers, replace faucets/drain lines, etc.
  • Performs minor carpentry maintenance/installations/repairs including door repairs, frames, locks, windows, wall installation/repairs, cabinetry repairs, replacing floor and ceiling tiles, etc.
  • Paints various structures, equipment, walls, doors, furniture, etc.; maintains all painting equipment and paint.
  • Sets up/reconstructs work stations/office furniture as directed.
  • Sets up conference/training rooms as requested.
  • Completes monthly inspections of agency vehicles, including physical inspections and data collection.
  • Maintains organizational vehicles as per MHP's set standards.
  • Responds to 24 hour emergencies. (On-call rotation).
  • Installs door knobs; changes locks and cuts keys as directed.
  • Performs Floor Care at all locations.
  • Reports any activities that may violate established laws, regulations, policies or procedures. Raises questions about any actions contrary to law or policy taken by another staff member or employee or yourself, and reports the matter to management or to the Director - Quality Improvement & Compliance and/or Human Resources.
  • Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP's mission.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years of experience in maintenance of facilities.
  • Must be knowledgeable on how to operate hand and power tools in performance job duties.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, e-mail, time sheet management, internet research, etc. using relevant software.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Strong skillsets in oral and written communication, cultural competence, interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy, problem solving and organization.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, crawl in tight spaces, move furniture.
  • Manual dexterity; must be able to carry a tool pouch and operate power tools typical for repairs.
  • Must be able to travel within the community that may not be handicap accessible: walking and/or drive agency vehicles, depending on the needs of the program. Ability to use public transportation, move around inner-city neighborhoods daily, including in inclement weather, carry computer equipment, and ascend/descend stairs carrying computer equipment. Must be able to travel to all sites supported, and MHP's main offices as needed.
  • Frequent talking and listening. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly and accurately; possible exposure to loud and/or vulgar language and hostile gestures.
