Job summary

Mars, Incorporated and its Affiliates is seeking a Site Industrial Engineer in the United States to collaborate with Value Stream Managers and the IE Manager. The role focuses on formalizing and developing loss prevention strategies to improve safety, productivity and efficiency across value streams.

The engineer will ensure a clear road-map for success, challenge standards, and support cost-savings initiatives aligned with Mars Wrigley’s supply strategy.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering/IE.
• Minimum 2+ years of manufacturing experience in production, engineering, or finance.
• Comfortable handling ambiguity and making data-driven decisions.
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking; ability to engage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve performance trend, loss analysis, and capacity databases.
• Report on capacity, line performance, and KPIs; track targets.
• Conduct capability and capacity analyses for production lines; lead bottleneck analysis.
• Support project management andact as the voice of the site for new activities.
• Optimize labor efficiency and staffing standards; drive loss analysis and CI initiatives.
• Perform regular rate reviews and own rate strategy for product lines.
• Support Mars Supply Excellence Pillars and related safety/quality activities.
• Collaborate with Operations to solve chronic problems and drive improvements.

Job Description:

The Site Industrial Engineer is responsible for working with the Value Stream Managers and Industrial Engineering Manager to formalize and develop the loss prevention strategy in the value streams. This role identifies, captures and highlights data to define areas which require optimization in order to make the process stream enhance its safety, productivity and efficiency to deliver a quality product.

The Site Industrial Engineer ensures the value stream has a clear roadmap for success over time, challenges the standards to deliver increased value and support the cost savings journey for the business unit connected with the Mars Wrigley supply strategy.

What are we looking for?

Minimum:

• Associates Degree in Engineering or Industrial Engineering or similar technical field of study.
• 2 or more years of manufacturing experience in production, engineering, or finance.
• OR Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering / Industrial Engineering, or similar technical field of study.
• Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity.

Preferred:

• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking/challenging mindset.
• Ability to work independently engaging key stakeholders to find solutions to complex requests.
• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency and ability to gather, manipulate and analyze data quickly.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing Plant Optimization and Lean/TPM principles in a manufacturing environment.
• Good working knowledge of cost-vs.-benefit analysis (e.g. IRR, payback period)
• Familiarity with Tableau or similar modeling and database skills

What will be your key responsibilities?

Business Performance and Improvement:

• Maintain and improve performance trend & loss analysis and capacity database.
• Maintain and improve performance data reporting (i.e. Capacity, line performance, etc.)
• Conduct capability and capacity analysis for production lines and lead bottleneck analysis.
• Track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), perform trend analysis, and communicate performance against targets.
• Support Activity Management (Project Management) process & be “voice of site” for new activities.
• Optimize labor efficiency/staffing standards.
• Lead/participate in/coach loss analysis and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities in journey to zero loss (FI Pillar of TPM).
• Perform regular rate reviews of product lines and own rate strategy.
• Support Mars Supply Excellence Pillars and activities (FMOS, AM, FI, PM, Safety, and Quality).
• Collaborate with Operations by facilitating problem solving and loss analysis on chronic problems

Perspective and Knowledge Management:

• Ensure understanding of KPI performance and drivers by those impacted and make recommendations for areas of improvement.
• Leverage regional and global benchmarking to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide insightful and objective analysis of losses and make recommendations based on analysis.
