Job summary

Makino Inc. is seeking a Facilities Team Lead in Mason, OH to oversee a maintenance team and ensure safe, reliable operation of all plant equipment. You will supervise technicians, develop staff, and coordinate preventive maintenance with the Corporate Facilities Manager.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and hands-on electrical/mechanical knowledge are essential. Responsibilities include directing maintenance projects, tracking budgets, selecting suppliers, and enforcing lean manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in mechanical/electrical/industrial maintenance.
  • Journeyman Electrician cert required; HVAC experience preferred.
  • Ten years in industrial maintenance with strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, specs, and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop facilities team for performance and safety.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Facilities Manager on staffing and resources.
  • Provide technical guidance and preventive maintenance planning.
  • Develop supplier resources and manage budgets for maintenance.
  • Oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Promote lean manufacturing concepts and 5S in daily operations.
  • Respond to off-shift and weekend call-ins as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability across the facility.

Job description

FACILITIES TEAM LEAD

The Facilities Team Lead is responsible and accountable for the performance of the employees assigned to their team, scheduling and assigning work within the team and supervising the group for accurate and timely completion of the work.

Responsibilities include:
  • Employee development and management
  • Working with the Corporate Facilities Manager, recruit and select new staff members when required.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to individual staff members through all available tools, resources, and practices, such as:
    • Personal Performance Planning
    • Corporate-sponsored training programs
    • Commercial training programs
    • Continuous education of general product knowledge
  • Provide technical guidance and maintenance solutions to facilities team for facility-related problems to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Resource development and management
    • Working with Corporate Facilities Manager to develop and qualify new supplier resources
    • Establish and monitor budgetary requirements for supplier resources
Daily Facility Support
  • Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic that reflects the Makino Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is a part of everything we do.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by overseeing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Develops preventative and predictive maintenance system to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Performs hook-up of electrical distribution, transformer connections, motor controls.
  • Performs all aspects of electrical installation including: running of conduit, sizing of conductors, grounding, etc.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical and electrical maintenance information by answering questions, requests and recording maintenance operations.
  • Protects employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean building.
  • Recognizes and rectifies potential unsafe conditions.
  • Identifies and strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of job performance, education, processes, procedures and methods.
  • Subject to call-in during off-shift and weekends as needed.
  • Act as a key member of the facility emergency response team
  • Application of lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
  • Carry out special projects and all other additional duties as assigned by Department management.
  • Maintain and enhance the reliability and maintainability of the overall facility.
  • Takes the lead on Maintenance Projects as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable for the performance and professional development of the team members. On occasion may supervise contracted services provider or individuals on a specific technical assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Preferred minimum of 10 years of experience in the Industrial Maintenance field.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, fabricate multiple pieces of equipment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair the building automation systems and controls.
  • Must be a leader, able to attain sufficient task success, to establish credibility with management, staff and employees.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondences, and memos.
  • Ability to manage projects with competing priorities.
  • Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to perform successfully under minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Have or obtain certification for lift truck, scissors lift and other service and maintenance equipment.
  • Experience with industrial maintenance, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to travel to remote sites.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance or a minimum of 10 years of industrial maintenance experience Journeyman Electrician certificate required. Minimum of 10 years of experience with HVAC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and basic electrical repair.
