Job summary

Job description

Summary

This position will be responsible for keeping all equipment / machinery in the plant functioning, troubleshooting problems as they arise, and executing preventative maintenance initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Working with a team and also individually diagnosing and correcting industrial machine problems utilizing the following:
    • Various test equipment such as analog and digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, megaohm meters, clamp on ammeters, and process calibrators.
    • Understand and follow machine electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics that can be either foreign or domestic.
    • Working knowledge of all industrial low and high voltages, AC and DC.
    • Generally accepted wiring color codes and sizing.
    • Industrial Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  • Electrical system installation skills required:
  • Must have the knowledge of using electrical schematics to wire control systems mounting to backplanes and install them in control cabinets according to electrical and electronic codes and standards.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and building equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. Must be able to install & repair electrical apparatus & wiring circuits that consist of three-phase 240V & 460V.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  • Will be responsible for maintaining building lighting, emergency lights/exit lights, 120 volt outlets
  • Various PLC, HMI, and other industrial equipment communication software packages.
  • Troubleshooting and configuration skills required:
    • AC and DC motors
    • AC and DC variable speed drives.
    • Resistive heating elements.
    • PID loop controllers.
    • Power SCR’s.
    • Various sized contactors, electromechanical and solid state relays.
    • Other miscellaneous industrial control devices.
  • General Maintenance experience required:
    • Experience with industrial automation system
    • Experience with welding and fabrication
    • Able to read blue prints, electrical drawings, ladder logics, etc.
    • Troubleshoot, repair & maintain industrial machinery & equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasking on equipment.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain, organize, control, inventory supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Clean and organize shop area.
  • Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work.
  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments such as motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
  • Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
  • Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts.
  • Requisitions new/replacement parts and equipment.
  • Inspects completed repairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Required
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Certificate or degree from an accredited technical school/college, or experience demonstrating equivalent level of knowledge and skill.
    • Minimum 2-3 year previous facilities maintenance experience preferred.
    • Ability to use various testing devices related to the mechanical / electrical trades, preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environment.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects.
    • General knowledge of computers preferred.
    • Must have the ability to complete required safety classes that pertain to specific job duties.
    • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes and handbooks - preferred.
