Job summary

YMCA seeks a Site Coordinator I to coordinate activities at an assigned childcare site, ensuring a safe, well-supervised and enriching atmosphere for youth. You will work with the Assistant Director and Director of Youth Development on weekly updates and program planning.

The role requires 1+ years of experience with school-aged children, supervisory experience, CPR/First Aid certification, and the ability to manage staff and grant reporting while engaging families and partners in the community.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One or more years’ experience working with school-aged children.
  • One or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (infant/child) and Food Handlers Permit or able to obtain within 30 days.
  • Ability to obtain fingerprinting for Department of Child Care Licensing.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and communicating with a diverse population.
  • Mature judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Observant, safety conscious, able to react calmly in an emergency.
  • Proficient in Google Platform preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, implement, and direct a high quality childcare program and staff at the site.
  • Develop positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ensure safety of all participants following policies and emergency procedures.
  • Assist in implementing new programs from the Director of Youth Development.
  • Recruit and retain participants to meet grant-based attendance targets.
  • Conduct site marketing and recruitment to raise enrollment and awareness.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule program assistants; review payroll.
  • Maintain grant fidelity, site records, reporting, and deadlines.
  • Plan activities with the Director to align with YMCA standards and partnerships.
  • Oversee budgeting and inventory; handle purchase requests for supplies.
  • Communicate successes and challenges daily with supervisors.
  • Participate in community outreach and school support; collaborate on partnerships.

Overview

This position coordinates and implements all activities at an assigned childcare site. The Site Coordinator I is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, well‑supervised and enriching atmosphere for all youth participants. The Site Coordinator I ensures the program is well received by principal, faculty, YMCA program leaders, volunteers, program participants and their parents. This position works closely with the Assistant Director and Director of Youth Development on weekly program updates.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises, implements, and directs high quality childcare program and other program staff for assigned site.
  • Develops positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Oversees and ensures the safety of all program participants through minor decision making regarding routine problems and following all YMCA and licensing policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
  • Assists in the implementation of new programs assigned by the Director of Youth Development.
  • Facilitates recruitment and retention efforts to maintain an A.D.A. (average daily attendance) of 15 or more students for a small program and/or 25 or more students for a large program per grant guidelines
  • Conducts frequent and recurring marketing and recruitment at site to increase enrollment and program awareness.
  • Participates in the supervision, training, and scheduling of program assistants. Reviews and approves staff’s payroll.
  • Ensures grant fidelity and site records, files, reporting and other required administrative procedures are completed and maintained according to deadlines and policy.
  • Work collaboratively with Assistant Director and Director to plan, organize, and conduct lessons/activities according to YMCA standards, Utah After School Network, and other partnerships.
  • Oversees operating budget for assigned site and manages expenses through creating purchase requests for needed supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Communicates with direct supervisors regarding any and all successes and challenges, on a daily basis.
  • Participates in community outreach (such as United Way, Gear Up, AmeriCorps) and school support during instructional day.
  • Participates in department cohorts/committees to ensure the grant fidelity with external programs and partnerships.
  • Supports other after school programs as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
