Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. invites a motivated student to join our Site/Civil Engineering Internship for Summer 2027 in the Northeast. You’ll work with engineers on land development, hydraulics, water and sewer projects, SWPPP, and site inspections.

Entry-level position; enrollment in ABET-accredited engineering program required; 3.0 GPA preferred. You’ll gain hands-on design, field observations, and support with permitting, construction documents, and cost estimates under a dedicated mentor.

Qualifications

• Entry level internship with no prior experience required.
• Currently enrolled in ABET‑Accredited College Engineering Program

Responsibilities

• Assist with design tasks for commercial, residential, institutional, and infrastructure‑related projects
• Support site layout, grading, stormwater management, hydraulics analysis, water/sewer utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations under the guidance of project engineers
• Contribute to SWPPP preparation and stormwater compliance efforts
• Assist with site inspections and field observation documentation
• Help prepare construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Provide support with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, and county‑level agencies)
• Collaborate with team members on project organization, schedules, and cost estimate preparation
• Gain exposure to diverse, real‑world civil engineering practices while contributing to active projects

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI is seeking a motivated student for a Site/Civil Engineering Internship to join our team for Summer 2027. This position offers hands‑on experience supporting a wide range of civil engineering projects across the Northeast, including land development, hydraulics, water and sewer infrastructure, stormwater management, SWPPPs, and site inspections. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on both public and private sector projects. Summer interns will work a 40‑hour week, with at least 10 weeks required during the period from mid‑May through the end of August. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must submit mid‑summer and end‑of‑summer reports/presentations.

Education and/or Skills Required:

• This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.
• Currently enrolled in an ABET‑Accredited College Engineering Program

Education And/or Work Experience Preferred

• 3.0 GPA or higher

• Valid Driver’s License
