Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. in Maryland is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) for our Site/Civil team. This opportunity targets Spring 2027 graduates with a Summer 2027 start, offering growth and hands-on project exposure.

You will support design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development, perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, and prepare construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D. A Driver's License is required and EIT is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Driver’s License required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects.
• Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations.
• Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies).
• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development.
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates.

KCI is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a strong interest in public and private land development engineering to join our Site/Civil team. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2027 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects
• Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations
• Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies)
• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates
  

Preferred

• Previous internship or work experience in civil/site design or land development
• Familiarity with stormwater management and Storm Drain Computations and software (e.g., HydroCAD, Civil3D)
• Exposure to local permitting agencies or review processes in Maryland or the Mid-Atlantic region
  

Qualifications

• 0-2 Years of experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
• General knowledge of required design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

• Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.
