Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Site/Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) for Summer 2027. The role targets Spring 2027 graduates joining our Site/Civil team to work on public and private land development projects across multiple locations in the region.

Responsibilities include supporting design, site layout, and permitting, with exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and Stormwater calculations. A BS in engineering (ABET-accredited) and strong communication are required.

• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a strong interest in public and private land development engineering to join our Site/Civil team. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2027 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects
• Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations
• Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies)
• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates

Preferred:

• Previous internship or work experience in civil/site design or land development
• Familiarity with stormwater management and Storm Drain Computations and software (e.g., HydroCAD, Civil3D)
• Exposure to local permitting agencies or review processes in Maryland or the Mid-Atlantic region

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:

• 0-2 Years of experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
• General knowledge of required design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

• Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to maintain required certifications.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
