Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) seeks a Site Civil Designer to join our Land Development team in Newark, Manasquan, or Princeton, NJ. Join a dynamic group delivering varied projects with notable community impact.

You will participate in plan layouts, specifications, and coordination with engineers while growing technical and project management skills in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience working on land development projects.
• EIT preferred.
• Experience site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management.
• Experience with site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reports.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop project management skills through on-the-job training of project management techniques and management systems through assisting with the project proposal process and determining project requirements (e.g., schedule and budget).
• For a detailed segment of a project, lays out full plan designs, plan details and outlines, identifies, quantities of materials, cost estimates, and performs calculations.
• Assists senior engineers with a variety of assignments (e.g., development of design guides, guide specifications, design control procedures).
• Prepares technical specifications for review and approval.
• Reviews and may approve design drawings for assigned segment of project.
• Prepare technical reports.
• Perform field tests, takes measurements, and collects field data, as necessary.
