Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) is seeking a Site Civil Designer to join our Land Development team in New Jersey, with opportunities to base in Newark, Manasquan or Princeton.

The role involves planning, design, and coordination on land development projects for mixed-use, biotech, residential and hospitality clients. You will assist with project proposals, prepare plan layouts, specifications, and technical reports, and support senior engineers on design guides, cost estimates, and field data

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience working on land development projects.
• EIT preferred.
• Experience site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management.
• Experience with site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reports.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop project management skills through on-the-job training of project management techniques and management systems through assisting with the project proposal process and determining project requirements (e.g., schedule and budget).
• For a detailed segment of a project, lays out full plan designs, plan details and outlines, identifies, quantities of materials, cost estimates, and performs calculations.
• Assists senior engineers with a variety of assignments (e.g., development of design guides, guide specifications, design control procedures).
• Prepares technical specifications for review and approval.
• Reviews and may approve design drawings for assigned segment of project.
• Prepare technical reports.
• Perform field tests, takes measurements, and collects field data, as necessary.
