Job summary

PS&S, LLC is seeking a Site Civil Designer/Engineer to join our Land Development team in Warren, New Jersey. This role supports the planning, design, and permitting of site civil infrastructure across a range of land development projects, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and environmental professionals.

We offer a full-time position with hybrid/on-site work options and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in site civil design for land development.
• EIT or PE license preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of NJ municipal, county, and state land use and stormwater regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Complete due diligence/feasibility studies and research jurisdictional requirements.
• Prepare site civil design plans including layout, grading, drainage, utilities and erosion controls.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce design drawings with input from the team.
• Perform stormwater management design and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams throughout design and construction.
• Prepare and submit permit applications to municipal, county, state agencies and NJDEP.
• Conduct site visits and construction observation as needed.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, municipal boards, and reviewing agencies.
• Understand and apply local, county and state regulations.
• Review construction shop drawings and RFIs for projects in construction.
• Attend project meetings and present progress.
• Assist with proposals for professional engineering and landscape architecture services.
• Coordinate with all engineering disciplines and teams.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Site Civil Designer/Engineer to join our Land Development team in our Warren, New Jersey office. This role supports the planning, design, and permitting of site civil infrastructure across a range of land development projects, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and environmental professionals.

Responsibilities

• Complete due diligence/feasibility studies, research jurisdictional agency requirements and available information for project site.
• Prepare site civil design plans including layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
• Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D software to complete design drawings using input from engineers and landscape architects on their team.
• Perform stormwater management design and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams throughout design and construction of a project.
• Prepare and submit permit applications to agencies having jurisdiction including municipal, county, and state agencies and the NJDEP (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection)
• Conduct site visits and construction observation as needed
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, municipal boards, and reviewing agencies throughout the project life.
• Understand and apply local, county and State regulations with respect to the design requirements for each project.
• Evaluate design solutions against industry standards and regulations and develop potential solutions to design problems for discussion with design team.
• Write technical reports with limited input of supervisors for submission to regulatory agencies.
• Review construction shop drawings, product data, and contractor RFI’s for projects in construction with final sign off from supervisor.
• Assign tasks and coordinate with technical designers.
• Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of the team assignments and progress.
• Assist with proposals to provide professional engineering and landscape architecture services.
• Coordinate and collaborate with project teams including all engineering disciplines, landscape architecture and architecture teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in site civil design for land development
• EIT (Engineer in Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Working knowledge of NJ municipal, county, and state land use and stormwater regulations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver's license for site visit

Preferred Qualifications

• HydroCAD, Hydroflow, HecRas
• Experience with New Jersey municipal land use board approval processes
