The role requires leadership of clinical operations, staff development, and collaboration with hospital leadership to optimize throughput and patient outcomes in a renowned musculoskeletal referral setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5-7 years of post-training clinical practice with progressive leadership experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in regional anesthesia and perioperative pain management for high-volume orthopedic populations.
• Experience leading anesthesia departments and coordinating across a hospital network.
• Strong ability to develop strategic plans and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provides overall clinical direction and oversight for anesthesia services across 16 operating rooms, PACU, preoperative clinic, and acute pain services.
• Oversees management of high-acuity, complex tertiary referrals including preoperative optimization and risk stratification.
• Direct departmental operations: staffing models, call schedules, daily OR coverage, and staffing.
• Collaborates with perioperative and surgical leadership to optimize OR throughput and case scheduling.
• Leads anesthesia quality and patient safety through peer review and adverse-event analysis.
• Establishes, monitors, and reports departmental quality metrics.
• Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission, Specialty-Society standards, and hospital policies on sedation and medication safety.
• Provides leadership for education, supervision of residents and fellows, and ACGME teaching hospital status.
• Drives governance participation across institutional committees and perioperative operations.
• Promotes efficient daily OR operations and a culture of clinical excellence and safety.
• Oversees safe anesthesia care adherence to best practices and guidelines.
• Mentors staff and promotes professional development; collaborates with CRNA site leaders.
