Job summary

California Schools Talent Collaborative is seeking a Site Assistant- Elementary for our after-school program in Pomona, CA. This part-time role supports site leadership with administrative and operational tasks to ensure high-quality student services.

You will assist with student check-in/out, materials preparation, and data entry, while helping supervise students and staff and coordinating the snack program in a dynamic after-school setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 48 semester/60 quarter college units or passing NCLB test.

Responsibilities

  • Assist site leadership with organizing student check-in and sign-out.
  • Engage with parents during drop-off and pick-up periods.
  • Prepare and organize educational materials and resources.

Overview

Job Title: Site Assistant- Elementary

Status: Part-Time Days: Monday to Friday Pay Rate: $21.00/hour OFFERING HIRING AND QUARTERLY BONUS

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists at after-school program site leaders with administrative and operational duties related to the provision of excellent student support services. Responsibilities may include attendance of students, site and material preparation, data entry, scheduling, and student record keeping. May provide coordination for the snack program. May provide backup coverage for absent staff or site leadership. Completes general administrative duties like copying, and filing and other work, as assigned. May assist with student discipline, under the supervision of the site leadership. Works on special projects assigned by the site leadership. Assists with coaching, development and training of staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists site leadership with organizing and overseeing student check-in and sign-out process.
  • Interacts with and builds strong relationships with parents during drop off and pick up periods.
  • Organizes and prepares educational and other materials; stores and checks resources; organizes materials for students and teachers.
  • Coordinates the snack program (orders, checks in and inventories food products, dispenses snacks, keeps records and enters data according to school site requirements).
  • Assists with and ensures room clean up, as needed or requested.
  • Serves as a positive role model for students and others affiliated with CSTC.
  • Supervises students and staff in the absence of site leadership, as needed.
  • Works on special projects assigned by site leadership.
  • Assist with coaching, development and training of staff and volunteers.
  • Friendly, supportive attitude when working with children and adults.
  • Oversees the effective implementation of district partner and site leadership program expectations to ensure the highest quality outcomes and meaningful impact for students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong Supervision & Safety Awareness: Maintains active supervision of program and staff, enforces safety protocols, and supports transitions through coaching staff to ensure a smooth flow of the day.
  • Dependable & Adaptable: Shows up consistently, steps into various roles as needed, and remains flexible in a fast‑paced, dynamic after‑school setting.
  • Effective Communication: Communicates clearly and respectfully with students, staff, peers, parents, and site leadership to ensure alignment and collaboration.

  • Experience with Children: Prior experience working with elementary‑aged students is preferred. Experience supporting or coaching others in a team environment is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 48 Semester/60 Quarter College Units or pass NCLB test.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
  • Provide a clear TB test.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Curriculum and instructional strategies appropriate to the assigned responsibility.
  • Correct oral and written usage of English Basic grammar, spelling, punctuation and math.
  • Simple record‑keeping and filing techniques.
  • Diversity of community, city and school District cultures and languages.

  • Demonstrate oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Implement effective instructional after‑school activities in the classroom.
  • Learn the procedures and functions of assigned duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT:
  • Indoor/outdoor Classroom and Playground environment.
  • Moderate noise (examples: typical school noise with children at play).
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • Seeing to monitor student work and read materials.
  • Hearing and speaking accurately to exchange information.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate instructional equipment.
  • Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting or moving objects, normally not exceeding thirty (30) pounds.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Must be available M-F for the entire shift schedule.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Word processing
  • Use typical office equipment, E-mail, and Internet software.
  • Web browsing and electronic file management.
  • Zoom, Google Classroom, and other digital platforms.
