Job summary

GeBBS Healthcare Solutions is seeking a skilled Medical Coder specializing in Same Day Surgery and orthopedic procedures. You will review outpatient records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, and ensure accurate modifiers within a single-pathway workflow using Epic and 3M Encoder.

The role requires 3+ years of experience, deep knowledge of NCCI edits, OPPS/APC reimbursement methods, and AHIMA/AAPC certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Same Day Surgery coding experience.
• Extensive experience coding orthopedic surgery procedures.
• Experience coding both professional and facility services in a single-pathway workflow.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, modifier assignment, NCCI edits, and OPPS/APC reimbursement.
• AHIMA/AAPC certifications (CCS, CPC, COC, RHIA, RHIT) are required.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient same day surgery medical records and supporting documentation.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, and facility coding elements.
• Code orthopedic procedures including arthroscopy, joint, spine, hand, foot and ankle, and fracture repairs.
• Ensure correct modifiers and compliance with NCCI edits and payer guidelines.
• Review and reconcile charges to support complete and compliant charge capture.
• Identify documentation opportunities and communicate coding clarifications when needed.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards and stay current with coding updates.

Position Responsibilities

• Review outpatient same day surgery medical records and supporting documentation.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, modifiers, and applicable facility coding elements for both professional and facility billing.
• Code a wide variety of orthopedic surgical procedures, including arthroscopy, joint procedures, spine, hand, foot and ankle, fracture repairs, and other musculoskeletal surgeries.
• Ensure accurate modifier assignment and compliance with National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and payer guidelines.
• Review and reconcile charges to support complete and compliant charge capture.
• Identify documentation opportunities and communicate coding clarification needs when appropriate.
• Maintain established productivity and quality standards.
• Stay current with coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes impacting outpatient surgery services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Same Day Surgery coding experience.
• Extensive experience coding Orthopedic Surgery procedures.
• Experience coding both professional and facility services in a single-pathway workflow.
• Strong knowledge of:

Required Systems Experience

One or more of the following AHIMA/AAPC certifications is required:

• Meets established productivity standards based on case complexity
• Timely completion of assigned work queues while maintaining quality expectations
