Job summary

CAE Simuflite in Minnesota’s Training Center seeks an equipment technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CAE and non-CAE flight simulators and related devices. The role requires diagnosing issues, conducting pre/post-flight checks, and updating maintenance records in the CMMS.

You will support refurbishment projects and ensure QMS compliance, while delivering reliable service to customers.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or 4 years in electronics/avionics or related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and system prints.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment including oscilloscope, multimeter, signal generator, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with PC hardware/software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on simulators and related devices.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair simulator issues.
  • Record and track maintenance activities in the CMMS.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks on designated simulators.
  • Assist with refurbishment projects and hardware modifications.
  • Provide customer service and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and support logistics tasks.

Job description

All for equipping teams to excel.

As part of the Technical Services department within CAE's Civil Training and Services division, perform all preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on several CAE and non-CAE flight simulators and associated devices at the CAE Training Center.

The incumbent will support the following roles and responsibilities:

Description

  • Perform routine technical tasks in a simulator, laboratory, office, plant, or field environment.
  • Receive training in the various phases of laboratory, office, plant, and field technical work.
  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance activities on simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and correcting issues on simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize the maintenance management system to record, document, and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all assigned training and development activities.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks on designated simulators.
  • Conduct basic visual alignments.
  • Execute automated Qualification Test Guide (QTG) procedures.
  • Assist with simulator refurbishment projects and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Provide customer service support and respond to customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform housekeeping activities necessary to maintain simulator readiness and cleanliness.
  • Support logistics activities, including receiving parts, coordinating repairs, and conducting testing and validation.
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Provide operational support to the Technical Services team as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree (2-year technical degree) in a technical discipline, or 4 years of experience in an electronics, avionics, or related technical field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and adapt to changing shift requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, system prints, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronic theory.
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with PC hardware, software, and computer system architecture.
  • Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repair techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting simulation, training, aviation, electronics, or technical equipment environments.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a technical environment.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and equipment testin
