Job Description

The simulation technician maintains current knowledge of simulation and lab equipment and operation manuals. They program simulator software to model physiological responses based on instructor and scenario specifications. The technician operates various computers and technical equipment related to simulation scenarios, including audio-visual and debriefing systems. They support faculty and students with virtual reality equipment, demonstrate proper techniques, and provide technical support for simulation and skills lab exercises.

Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining simulation equipment, developing instructional practices, assisting in manual development, managing lab schedules, and supporting various medical devices and peripherals. The technician also provides theatrical production support, enforces safety protocols, maintains records, and collaborates with staff and faculty to resolve complex issues. Additional duties involve proctoring exams and performing other assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a healthcare field is preferred; a bachelor’s degree is advantageous.
• 1-2 years of simulation experience in an educational or similar setting is preferred.
• Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) is preferred and must be obtained within three years if not certified upon hire.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills are essential.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with changing policies and clinical needs.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology is preferred.
