Job summary

HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Simulation Software Integration Engineer to support FIAB capabilities for F‑22/F‑35 synthetic environments at JITTC‑Nellis. On-site role focusing on software integration, troubleshooting, and enhancement of complex simulation systems within the JSE architecture for USAFWC/ACC.

You will deliver high-end Advanced Tactics and Training capabilities by integrating FIAB software, models, and interfaces in distributed, real-time simulations, collaborating

Qualifications

  • Five years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; three years with a Master's; nine years with a high school diploma.
  • Experience in software development and software design within simulation environments.
  • Ability to modify, debug, and troubleshoot C++ and Python source code in simulation frameworks.
  • Experience integrating complex software systems or simulation components in distributed or real-time environments.
  • Proficiency with Linux command line and software interfaces, middleware, APIs, or data models.
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; self‑starter with initiative.
  • Current or active TS clearance within the last 24 months; ability to obtain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Support FIAB operations by monitoring system performance and ensuring stable execution within JSE.
  • Troubleshoot FIAB issues by reviewing FIAB source code and JSE Platform Plugin code.
  • Integrate FIAB models, sensor models, software interfaces, and avionics behaviors into JSE.
  • Develop enhancements, resolve defects, and optimize FIAB software in real-time architectures.
  • Integrate FIAB with other JSE and non-JSE platforms across synthetic training environments.
  • Document, report, and track deficiencies related to FIAB and JPP components.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and Government SMEs to sustain high-fidelity synthetic capabilities.

Summary

HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Simulation Software Integration Engineer to support Fighter‑In‑A‑Box (FIAB) capabilities for F‑22 and/or F‑35 synthetic environments. This role supports Modeling, Simulation, and Training (M&S) integration efforts at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC‑N), located at Nellis AFB, NV, supporting the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center’s Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) team.

As part of an on‑site engineering team, you will help deliver high‑end Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capability for Government personnel operating under USAFWC/ACC by supporting the development, refinement, and integration of FIAB software within the JSE architecture. This role is focused on software integration, troubleshooting, and enhancement of complex simulation systems, rather than general simulator operations.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Support daily FIAB operations by monitoring system performance and ensuring stable execution within JSE.
  • Troubleshoot FIAB issues by reviewing FIAB source code and/or JSE Platform Plugin (JPP) source code.
  • Integrate FIAB mission‑system models, sensor models, software interfaces, and avionics behaviors into the JSE simulation environment.
  • Develop enhancements, resolve defects, and optimize FIAB software performance within distributed or real‑time simulation architectures.
  • Integrate FIAB capabilities with other JSE and non‑JSE platforms across synthetic training and test environments.
  • Assist with accurately documenting, reporting, and tracking deficiencies related to FIAB and JPP components.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and Government SMEs to support reliable, high‑fidelity synthetic test and training capabilities.
What You Will Do
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in software development and software design.
  • Experience integrating complex software systems or simulation components in distributed or real‑time environments.
  • Ability to modify, debug, and troubleshoot C++ and/or Python source code within simulation frameworks.
  • Experience working with software interfaces, middleware, plug‑ins, APIs, or data models used to connect simulation components.
  • Proficiency working in a Linux command‑line environment.
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and initiative to troubleshoot, address, and prevent problems on complex technical systems.
  • Current or active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR clearances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software development experience with FIAB source code (F‑22 and/or F‑35) or JSE Platform Plugin code.
  • Experience integrating simulation software with external systems, sensors, networks, mission‑systems models, or other platform components.
  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Live‑Virtual‑Constructive (LVC), or DoD synthetic training systems.
  • Background with distributed simulation middleware such as DIS, HLA, or DDS.
  • Experience modeling or integrating 5th‑generation fighter mission systems, avionics, sensor fusion, or LO synthetic behaviors.
  • Current DoD TS/SCI clearance or active SAP/SAR accesses.
  • Experience optimizing performance in high‑fidelity, real‑time synthetic environments.
Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.

Salary

Anticipated Salary Range: $101,799.00 - $140,000.00.
