Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Senior Combat Training Systems Test Engineer to lead integration efforts on the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N) at Nellis AFB, NV, supporting USAFWC/ACC.

The role focuses on on-site M&S support, high-end Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capabilities for government customers, including DoD test methodologies and MITL environments.

Qualifications

• 9 year relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Master in related field; 4 years’ experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 year relevant experience.
• Knowledge and/or experience with DoD test methodologies and data analysis, such as Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Initiative and strong work ethic to work independently or with a team to solve challenging problems in a development and prototyping environment.
• Rapid and effective problem solving: identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Excellent communication skills to document, develop, and present technical issues to stakeholders.
• Schedule performance: influencing and collaborating to achieve contract schedule success.
• Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Daily managing of test teams in support of 31st Combat Training Squadron’s Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) training systems located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
• Support the JSE engineering group on prioritizing and executing test objectives required for operational readiness of various flight simulator platforms with associated mission debrief systems.
• Plan, execute, analyze, and report component and system-level testing on JSE software components to sustain JSE Man-in-the-loop (MITL) training devices with focus on highest effectiveness and reliability.
• Collect, maintain, and analyze simulated weapons system test data for reports and documentation.
• Recommend changes and updates to flight simulators and support equipment as required.
• Perform readiness checks on flight simulation equipment and instruments.

Summary

HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Senior Combat Training Systems Test Engineer to work on a team executing integration efforts on the Modeling, Simulation, and Training environment at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis AFB, NV to support the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Joint Simulation Environment(JSE) team.

This position is part of a team that provides on-site Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support to establish and deliver high-end Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capability for Government personnel operating under USAFWC/ACC. #LI-MJ1

Key Job Responsibilities

• Daily managing of test teams in support of 31st Combat Training Squadron’s Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) training systems located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

• Collect, maintain, and analyze simulated weapons system test data for reports and documentation.
• Recommend changes and updates to flight simulators and support equipment as required.
• Perform required readiness checks on flight simulation equipment and instruments.
• Conduct and document preventative maintenance tests and checks required for simulator and support equipment.
• Assist in troubleshooting, testing, and documentation of malfunctions of simulators and mission debrief equipment.
• Assist with installation and check-out of simulator and support equipment modifications.
• Develop, modify, and utilize engineering drawings/designs, test cards, and test tools.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting technical manuals or similar documents.
• Support real-time simulation development and Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
• Support peer reviews of simulation models, analysis tools, and other software modules as required.
• Develop test methods and implement simulation software test tools, methods, and other automated test scripts as required.
• Facilitate rapid resolution of identified issues that impact operations thorough communication with task leads, program management, and other leadership as required.
• Collaborate daily with System Administrators, Engineers, Field Technicians, and customer engineering and project management teams.
• Support development of simulation and analysis related data briefings and deliverables to engineering teams, program manager, and government customers as required.
• Create test procedures and test reports from collected test data to identify issues and submit deficiency reports (DRs) to relevant SMEs to find solutions and future improvements.
• Perform other engineering test duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Man-In-The-Loop (MITL) military flight simulators is highly desired.
• Knowledge and/or experience working on software and programming/scripting languages in the Red Hat Linux environments, such as C and C++, is highly desired.
• Experience with Air Force’s 5th Generation mission systems is highly desired.
• Experience as weapon system Flight Test Pilot, Test Conductor/Director, Engineer, or Weapons School SME is desired.
• Demonstrated skills and experience with military aviation hardware and software development, integration, testing, and sustainment is desired.
• Candidates with computer science, engineering, or equivalent technical degree is desired.
• Candidates with leadership/mentorship experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
