Job Summary:
The College of Nursing is seeking an energetic faculty leader toserve as the Assistant Director of Clinical Simulation, a facultyadministrative appointment. The ideal candidate would be qualifiedto hold a faculty appointment within the IRC-Clinical Series,Clinical Teaching Track with dedicated time for the AssistantDirector of Clinical Simulation role. This position is responsiblefor the operational leadership, management, and continuousimprovement of the College of Nursing Clinical Simulation Programacross multiple campuses. This position oversees the dailyoperations of simulation facilities, personnel, technology,resources, and educational support services to ensure the deliveryof high-quality, innovative, and evidence-based simulationexperiences that support undergraduate and graduate nursingeducation.
Working under the general direction of the Assistant Dean ofClinical Simulation Science and in close operational collaborationwith the Director of Clinical Simulation and Placements, theAssistant Director implements strategic initiatives, managesoperational resources, supervises simulation personnel, supportsfaculty development, advances quality improvement efforts, andensures compliance with national simulation standards,accreditation requirements, and university policies. The AssistantDirector serves as an operational leader for the ClinicalSimulation Program. simulation education resource, fosteringinnovation, operational excellence, and collaborative partnershipsthat advance the College's mission, vision, and strategicpriorities for experiential learning.
This position is responsible for developing efficient operationalsystems, monitoring program performance, supporting budget andresource management, maintaining state-of-the‑art simulationfacilities and technologies, and promoting a culture of excellence,continuous improvement, and exceptional service for faculty,students, staff, and external partners.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of ClinicalSimulation Science within the College of Nursing, Office ofAcademic Programs. The Assistant Director works in closeoperational collaboration with the Director of Clinical Simulationand Placements, who provides day‑to‑day operational coordinationand direction. This position directly supervises the HealthcareSimulation Assistants and serves as a member of the ClinicalEducation and Placements leadership team.
Program Leadership & Operations
- Provides operational leadership for the College of NursingClinical Simulation Program across multiple campuses. Overseessimulation operations, personnel, facilities, technology, andresources to ensure high-quality, efficient, and consistentsimulation experiences that support undergraduate and graduatecurricula. Develops standardized operational processes, monitorsprogram performance, and collaborates with faculty and leadershipto optimize resources and support the College's strategicpriorities.
- Direct the day‑to‑day operations of the Clinical SimulationProgram, including scheduling, facilities, technology, andoperational resources.
- Develop and maintain standardized operational workflows,policies, and procedures to ensure consistent, high-qualitysimulation services.
- Monitor simulation utilization, operational performance, andresource allocation; implement process improvements to enhanceefficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with faculty and leadership to align simulationoperations with curricular priorities and institutionalgoals.
Personnel Leadership
- Provides leadership and supervision of simulation personnel tofoster a highly engaged, collaborative, and high‑performing team.Oversees workforce planning, staff development, performancemanagement, and employee engagement while promoting a culture ofaccountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.
- Supervise Healthcare Simulation Assistants through recruitment,onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation.
- Develop staffing plans and coordinate personnel assignments toensure operational coverage across simulation locations.
- Foster employee engagement, professional development, and acollaborative team environment.
- Collaborate with leadership to anticipate workforce needs andsupport organizational growth.
Quality, Accreditation & Regulatory Oversight
- Promotes excellence in simulation‑based education throughevidence‑based practices, continuous quality improvement, andadherence to national standards. Ensures simulation activities meetaccreditation, regulatory, and professional standards whilesupporting faculty development and program evaluation.
- Ensure compliance with the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standardsof Best Practice, the Healthcare Simulationist Code of Ethics,accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and evaluate simulation policies, quality assuranceprocesses, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Analyze learner, faculty, and program evaluation data to guideoperational and educational improvements.
- Support accreditation activities through documentation,reporting, and regulatory review processes.
Faculty & Educational Partnerships
- Collaborates with faculty to advance excellence insimulation‑based education by providing consultation, mentorship,and educational support. Promotes evidence‑based simulationmethodologies while fostering faculty competency, innovation, andcontinuous professional development.
- Mentor and consult with faculty on simulation design,facilitation, debriefing, and evaluation.
- Develop faculty resources and lead professional developmentinitiatives that enhance simulation competency.
- Collaborate with academic leadership to integrate simulationstrategically across undergraduate and graduate curricula.
- Promote evidence‑based simulation practices and educationalinnovation.
Technology, Facilities & Innovation
- Provides operational leadership for the management andadvancement of simulation facilities, technologies, and equipment.Ensures simulation environments remain operationally ready,technologically current, and aligned with educationalpriorities.
- O versee lifecycle management of simulation equipment, includinginventory, maintenance, replacement planning, and capital equipmentrecommendations.
- Collaborate with Information Technology, Facilities Management,vendors, and internal stakeholders to support simulationinfrastructure.
- Manage simulation facilities, technology systems, accesspermissions, and operational readiness across campuses.
- Evaluate and implement emerging simulation technologies thatenhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency.
Strategic Planning & Program Development
- Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Simulation andPlacements to implement operational priorities and strategicinitiatives established by the Assistant Dean of ClinicalSimulation Science. Supports program growth through operationalplanning, performance monitoring, and continuous processimprovement.
- Implement strategic initiatives and operational priorities thatsupport the College's mission, vision, and strategic plan.
- Monitor operational metrics, simulation utilization, and programoutcomes; provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Prepare operational reports and dashboards to supportdata‑informed decision‑making.
- Participate in strategic planning, committee work, andimplementation of new programs, technologies, and educationalinitiatives.
Budget & Resource Stewardship
- Provides stewardship of operational resources to ensure the sustainability, efficiency, and readiness of the ClinicalSimulation Program. Collaborates with the Director to supportbudget planning, resource management, and fiscalaccountability.
- Assist in developing and monitoring annual operating and capitalbudgets for the Clinical Simulation Program.
- Monitor expenditures and manage operational resources to ensurefiscal responsibility and efficient utilization.
- Forecast equipment, technology, staffing, and supply needs to support current operations and future growth.
- Recommend capital purchases and resource investments that supportstrategic priorities.
Teaching & Educational Support
- Provides instructional leadership to ensure continuity, quality,and innovation in simulation‑based education. Maintains simulationteaching expertise and provides instructional support as needed toensure operational continuity and advance evidence‑basedexperiential learning.
- Provide simulation instruction and faculty coverage asoperational needs require.
- Support implementation of new simulation curricula, educationalinitiatives, and pilot programs.
- Model best practices in simulation facilitation, debriefing, andlearner assessment.
- Maintain clinical and simulation expertise through ongoingprofessional development and scholarly engagement.

Work Location:
Hybrid – This position carries significant leadership andoperational responsibilities that necessitate regular in‑personpresence and engagement onsite. The successful candidate will beexpected to work onsite a minimum of three (3) days per week, withthe opportunity for remote work when duties, meetings, and businessneeds permit.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for thisposition has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Assistant Professor of Clinical Teaching - $105,000 to$125,000 annually at 1.0 FTE
Associate Professor of Clinical Teaching - $125,000 to$145,000 annually at 1.0 FTE
Professor of Clinical Teaching - $145,000 to $165,000annually at 1.0 FTE

Assistant Professor of Clinical Teaching:
- An earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing,education, or related area from an accredited institution of highereducation and in accordance with Board of Nursingrequirements.
- A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegialcollaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship toqualify for the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Teaching inthe Clinical Series: Clinical Teaching Track.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
- Minimum of two (2) years experience managing simulationoperations, supervising personnel, and supporting simulation‑basededucation.
- Eligible to obtain an unencumbered RN license in Colorado.
Associate Professor of Clinical Teaching:
- An earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing,education, or related area from an accredited institution of highereducation and in accordance with Board of Nursingrequirements.
- A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegialcollaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship toqualify for the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Teaching inthe Clinical Series: Clinical Teaching Track.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
- Minimum of two (2) years experience managing simulationoperations, supervising personnel, and supporting simulation‑basededucation.
- Eligible to obtain an unencumbered RN license in Colorado.
- Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of AssociateProfessor of Clinical Teaching include recognition as an expertteacher and sustained commitment to a program of scholarship.
Professor of Clinical Teaching:
- An earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing,education, or related area from an accredited institution of highereducation and in accordance with Board of Nursingrequirements.
- A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegialcollaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship toqualify for the rank of Professor of Clinical Teaching in theClinical Series: Clinical Teaching Track.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
- Minimum of two (2) years experience managing simulationoperations, supervising personnel, and supporting simulation‑basededucation.
- Eligible to obtain an unencumbered RN license in Colorado.
- Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Professorof Clinical Teaching include recognition as a master teacher,sustained leadership in teaching, expertise in curriculumdevelopment and teaching innovations, and a sustained commitment topeer reviewed scholarly work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Advanced (CHSE-A)
- Experience with maintaining strict adherence to accreditationand/or regulatory compliance.
