JOB SUMMARY

The Simulation Operation Specialist manages the operations of the simulation program at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Education: Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Experience: At least 18 months of healthcare simulation experience. Additional years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days, if applicable.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Experience as an EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Anesthesia Technician, AV field, or healthcare technologist
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire
JOB DUTIES
  • Foster a respectful and professional environment to ensure psychological safety for learners
  • Model professionalism in all interactions
  • Build trusting relationships across healthcare disciplines
  • Lead in simulation operations and technology
  • Develop, implement, and sustain immersive multidisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Support hybrid simulation events using various simulation tools and standardized patients
  • Assist in error proofing healthcare systems through simulation, identifying safety threats and gaps
  • Collaborate with the team to develop realistic simulation scenarios
  • Evaluate patient environments and equipment to identify safety issues and provide feedback
  • Support educational and research missions of the institution
  • Mentor or train staff as needed
  • Maintain simulation equipment and supplies
  • Promote simulation use across campus
  • Perform other duties as assigned
