  • Perform other simulation and skills lab duties as assigned.

Student Employment - Simulation Lab Assistant
Charleston Southern University
Purpose of Position

Assist with the preparation, operation, and maintenance of healthcare simulation and skills lab environments. This position provides students with hands-on experience while supporting simulation-based learning activities.

Dates Employed

Academic Year 2026-2027: August 24, 2026 - May 7, 2027

Possible continuation for Summer 2027

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with simulation and skills lab setup and breakdown
  • Prepare rooms, supplies, equipment, manikins, and task trainers for scheduled activities
  • Restock, organize, and maintain simulation and skills lab supplies
  • Assist with cleaning, laundry, and routine lab upkeep

Compensation

$15/Hour paid on the 15th of the month following the month when the work was performed (e.g. work performed in August, is paid on September 15)

Rate of Pay

$11/Hour paid on the 15th of the month following the month when the work was performed (e.g. work performed in June, is paid on July 15).

Schedule

Work hours will be coordinated with the supervisor based on student's class schedule and simulation lab needs. Students are expected to work their assigned schedule and communicate schedule changes or absences promptly. Students may not work during chapel or regularly scheduled class time, even if the class is cancelled.

Evaluation Procedures

Students will be evaluated on reliability, punctuality, professionalism, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, quality and completion of assigned tasks, and appropriate care of simulation equipment and supplies. Students are expected to maintain confidentiality regarding simulation activities, scenarios, student information, and assessment materials. Students are also expected to communicate promptly with their supervisor regarding absences or delays and to limit personal cell phone use while working.
