Job summary

Bay Systems Consulting, Inc. (BSC) is seeking a Simulation Engineer to support the Orion program from onsite locations in Houston, TX or Denver, CO. Requires 5+ years in software development and strong C++, Python, Linux skills to develop real-time 6 DoF simulations for aerospace operations.

Responsibilities include design, integration, testing, and deployment across full SDLC with emphasis on reliability, performance, and collaboration with flight software and mission ops teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with C++, Python, Linux development environments and debugging large-scale systems.
• Experience with real-time 6 DoF simulations and full SDLC.
• Perforce source control and aerospace engineering concepts including orbital dynamics, flight mechanics, GN&C.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance high-fidelity simulation environments supporting Orion spacecraft operations.
• Design and implement real-time 6 DoF simulation models.
• Support integration, testing, verification, and validation activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software and simulation issues across large-scale systems.
• Collaborate with aerospace engineers, flight software teams, and mission operations personnel.
• Support simulation architecture improvements and software modernization initiatives.
• Participate in full software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Implement software engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, and performance optimization.
• Contribute to mission readiness and operational support activities.
