Job description

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison with the faculty and students in providing Simulation, Skills, and Science lab services to fulfill the nursing curriculum's needs.
• Coordinate the use of the Simulation lab to assist the nursing students in critical thinking and applying theory to clinical.
• Update and maintain the simulation, skills, and science labs. Develop and implement plans, policies, and procedures for the labs.
• Maintain the appropriate inventory for the nursing laboratories and schedule lab practice.
• Assist science faculty in preparing for lab sessions to ensure necessary supplies are available.

Experience

• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience as a licensed nurse.
• Ability to build clinical simulation scenarios for teaching purposes using pertinent patient medical history.
• Knowledge of equipment and the latest nursing technology.
• Ability to work independently with general supervision.
• Ability to effectively operate related equipment and machines for instructional purposes.

Education

• Hold a master’s degree or doctoral degree, preferably in nursing;
• A nurse faculty member holding a master’s degree or doctoral degree in a discipline other than nursing shall hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an approved or accredited baccalaureate program in nursing; and
• if teaching in a diploma or associate degree program, shall have at least six (6) graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities.

Licenses/Certifications

• A current Texas Registered Nurse License is required.
• Current CPR card.
