The Nursing Lab & Simulation Coordinator plays a key role in preparing the next generation of nurses by delivering engaging, hands‑on learning experiences in simulation and skills lab environments.
This position blends teaching, simulation facilitation, and lab coordination, working closely with nursing faculty to design and deliver high‑impact learning aligned with clinical practice and program outcomes. The ideal candidate is passionate about student development, innovative teaching methods, and bridging classroom learning with real‑world patient care.
This role reports to the Nursing Director and partners closely with the Health Sciences Simulation team to support a dynamic, student‑centered learning environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Nursing (Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC).
- Active, unencumbered RN license.
- Minimum two (2) years of full‑time clinical experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in nursing education or clinical instruction, lab, or simulation support.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and curriculum development (or willingness to complete within first 3 years).
- Current competency in RN and/or LPN clinical practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
- Experience with simulation software and hardware (e.g., Laerdal, CAE).
- Teaching experience in Women’s Health, Maternal Health, Newborn, and/or Pediatrics.
- Experience supporting interdisciplinary or team‑based simulation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Simulation and Lab Leadership
- Support daily operations of nursing simulation and skills labs.
- Assist in developing and implementing simulation scenarios and lab activities.
- Coordinate equipment, supplies, and lab scheduling.
- Maintain safe, organized, and clinically relevant lab environments.
Teaching and Student Support
- Facilitate simulation sessions, skills labs, and remediation activities.
- Lead pre‑briefing and debriefing sessions using best practices (INACSL standards).
- Provide individualized coaching to support student skill development.
- Support open lab access and student practice opportunities.
Faculty Collaboration
- Partner with faculty to align simulation and lab activities with course outcomes.
- Support faculty in integrating simulation into coursework.
- Assist with curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts.
Professional Engagement
- Maintain licensure and stay current in clinical practice.
- Participate in professional development related to simulation and teaching.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives, committees, and community engagement.
