Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond is seeking a Photonics Design Engineer (RFIC) to develop next-gen PICs for space and ground applications. You will design and simulate optical building blocks, derive specs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across hardware and software domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
• 2+ years of photonics or electro-optical IC design.
• Experience with RF, analog and mixed-signal circuits.

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate optical building blocks (MZM, microring modulators).
• Derive specifications for Photonics IC systems.
• Model package optical interface (edge/grating couplers).
• Collaborate with system architects, DSP, electro-optics and ASIC engineers.
• Perform IC floor planning and layout.
• Evaluate and measure high-speed optical link components.
• Support lab equipment development for measurements.
• Coordinate with production testing and qualification.
