Job summary
SpaceX is seeking a Silicon Photonics Design Engineer (RFIC Engineering) to develop cutting-edge PICs for space and ground infrastructure. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams on MZM, microring modulators, and Ge photodiodes, pushing the limits of high-speed optical links.
The role requires 2+ years of photonics or electro-optical IC design and familiarity with RF/mixed-signal circuits. SpaceX offers a comprehensive benefits package and relocation/shuttle support to Seattle-area offices.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in EE/CS with 2+ years in photonics or electro-optical IC design.
- Advanced degrees preferred in electro-optics IC design.
- Experience with RF/mixed-signal circuit design is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze and simulate optical building blocks (MZM, microring modulators, Ge PDs).
- Derive specifications for photonics IC systems and circuits.
- Model edge/grating couplers and package optical interfaces.
- Collaborate with system architects, DSP, and ASIC teams.
- Perform IC floor planning, layout and lab measurements.
