Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. high-speed electro-optical IC engineer to design and develop cutting-edge PIC/EIC for space and ground infrastructures. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to push the performance of the Starlink network and enable high-speed optical Serdes.

The role requires a strong background in photonics/ECIC design, RF/mixed-signal circuits, and experience with silicon photonics and packaging, with a focus on 100+ Gbps links. Washington-based, on-site at Redmond facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer engineering, or computer science.
• 5+ years of photonics or electro-optical IC design.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate and model electro-optical building blocks for silicon photonics solutions.
• Design, simulate and model RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits and systems.
• Derive specifications for Photonics IC/Electrical IC subsystems and circuits.
• Develop Analog/Mixed-Signal/RF/Microwave circuits in SiGe or CMOS processes.
• Collaborate with system architects, DSP and electro-optics, and ASIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software.
• Perform IC floor planning and layout.
• Model package and external parasitic components.
• Evaluate and measure electrical and optical building blocks of high-speed optical links.
• Assist in developing automated test lab equipment for measurements.
• Work with manufacturing engineers on production testing and qualification of EIC/PIC components and systems.
