Qualifications

Job description

Tool Maker/Mold Maker 2nd shift 2:42pm-11:12pm Tool Room $30-$33/hr. $1.00SD

POSITION SUMMARY: Designs and fabricates basic fixtures, repairs and maintains injection molds, and machines components used in the manufacture of Silgan Slatersville, LLC products.

FUNCTIONS:

  1. This position utilizes tool design skill and experience to plan, construct, and repair a wide variety of basic tools and fixtures used in the manufacture of Silgan Slatersville, LLC products.
  2. Works with blueprints and verbal instructions to develop appropriate tool designs.
  3. Works to close tolerances on the majority of work assignments.
  4. Sets up and operates a wide variety of basic and advanced machines including, but not limited to, surface grinders, OD/ID grinders, milling machines, lathes, EDMs, and CNC equipment necessary to execute tool/machine repair designs.
  5. Utilizes a variety of measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
  6. Repairs all molds using basic and advanced equipment and evaluates and repairs all mold problems.
  7. Responsible for performing visual inspections to ensure tools/parts produced are in conformance with quality requirements.
  8. Maintains injection molds, including cleaning the molds and troubleshooting and repairing all molds.
  9. Maintains and repairs tool room machines, disassembles, cleans, and evaluates repairs as necessary.
  10. Performs general housekeeping duties, including sweeping, trash removal, cleaning plastic from molds, and equipment cleaning.
  11. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear.
  12. In performing assigned duties, walking, standing, crouching, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting are all required motions and actions of the job.
  13. When work in primary classification is not available, may perform other duties according to skill and availability.

Requirements:

  1. Thorough understanding of machinery and mold creation.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Thorough understanding of applicable safety rules.
  4. Successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program, technical school training program, or company-provided training program required.
  5. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a Journeyman or Moldmaker/toolmaker.
