Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an Assistant Deputy Director- Signal Maintenance for the New Haven Line. This role will plan and direct labor, materials, and equipment for the maintenance, testing, and inspection of wayside signal systems across the assigned territory.

Lead multiple signal maintenance workgroups, coordinate with internal departments, and ensure compliance with federal regulations and safety programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Transportation/Systems Engineering or closely related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing field maintenance and signaling systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience leading technical/maintenance teams.
  • Experience in safety-regulated environments governed by federal transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and direct labor, materials, and equipment for maintenance, tests, and inspections of wayside signal systems.
  • Lead Hudson, Harlem, and GCT Signal Maintenance Workgroups in safe maintenance and testing practices.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Track, Structures, Power, and others to ensure safe operation of the signal system.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with safety parameters and regulations.
  • Evaluate system upgrades and propose efficient solutions meeting mission parameters.
  • Develop staff knowledge and support safety programs and workforce development.
