Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Florida is seeking an experienced IP Engineer (Image and Signal Processing) to join a team of engineers and algorithm developers supporting missiles and fire control contracts. You will research, design, develop, and verify signal and image collection systems and create processing algorithms for real-time operation.

The role requires a BS in a STEM field with 3+ years of experience, interim clearance to start, and proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and C++.

Qualifications

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Interim Clearance is needed to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.
  • Shall have experience solving problems and relevant algorithm development in 3 or more image processing domains mentioned below.
  • Shall demonstrate strong math skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and convolution.
  • Shall be proficient in validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real-time data collections.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and verify embedded algorithms that support unresolved (point-source) and resolved target detection and tracking for missile and fire control products.
  • Develop, validate, and test complex models and simulations that utilize advanced image processing algorithms to detect targets of interest.
  • Evaluate and analyze system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements.
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
  • Opportunities will exist to join small teams of engineers and algorithm developers on a variety of different programs that are in various stages of product development.
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers.

Typical IP Engineer Tasks May Include

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Interim Clearance is needed to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.
  • Should be fluent in one of the following languages and proficient in the others :
  • MATLAB, python, and C++
  • Shall have experience solving problems and relevant algorithm development in 3 or more image processing domains mentioned below:
  • match filtering, SNR analysis, image enhancement algorithms, resolved or unresolved target detection, automatic target recognition / identification, image correction algorithms, synthetic scene generation, temporal analysis, low signature target detection
  • Shall demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of:
  • linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and convolution
  • Shall be proficient in validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real-time data collections
  • Have experience implementing and debugging IP algorithms running in a real-time processing environments
  • Have been exposed to electro-optic phenomenology and optical system analysis as it applies to image/signal processing.
  • Have familiarity with Modelling and Simulation of EOIR systems

Desired Skills

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses
  • Have experience with deployable AI/ML topologies as they relate to target detection
  • Have knowledge of electro-optical/infrared detection technology, optics, and principles of radiometry
  • Have strong programming skills that can translate to C++ in a Linux environment
  • Have experience with clutter rejection techniques
  • Have knowledge and experience with Modelling and Simulation of EOIR systems
  • Have experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements

Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00
