Job summary

Hall County is seeking a Sign Technician III who will operate a sign truck and related equipment to install and maintain traffic control devices. The role requires coordination with supervisors, inventory management, and occasional supervision of inmate work details.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in equipment operation, MUTCD knowledge, and ATSSA or equivalent safety certifications; CDL preferred and POST certification is required.

Qualifications

• Two years combined Equipment Operator I or II experience required.
• MUTCD Guidelines: thorough understanding of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
• ATSSA flagger or traffic control technician certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Valid Class C Driver's License (CDL A or B preferred) and satisfactory MVR.
• POST Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Operates small-medium equipment including sign truck, post driver, post puller, etc. for installation of traffic control devices.
• Supervises and trains outside inmate details and performs manual labor in maintenance/repair of traffic control devices.
• Uses tablet/computer for asset management, inventory control, and fabrication/design of traffic control devices.
• Operates sign truck to transport materials for installation/repair of devices; performs basic maintenance.
• Maintains inventory by organizing stock, requesting supplies, and monitoring low stock items.
• May perform road closures as assigned and assist in related maintenance tasks.
