Job summary

LGL Signs, Inc. is seeking a skilled Sign Maker to bring concepts to life from design to production in our Tomball shop. You will fabricate structures, apply vinyl, program and operate large-format equipment, and support final installations.

The ideal candidate has 2–8 years in commercial sign fabrication, is proficient in Adobe Illustrator, and can read shop drawings while balancing quality and deadlines. This role is onsite with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 2–8 years in commercial sign fabrication, vinyl production, or related trades.
• Proficient with Adobe Illustrator; familiarity with Photoshop, FlexiSign or Onyx RIP.
• Able to read shop drawings and measure accurately.
• Comfortable in both shop and computer-based work.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and finish a wide variety of sign types, including dimensional letters, monuments, panels, and vinyl graphics.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment: vinyl plotters, laminators, shears, brakes, routers, hand tools.
• Design and prepare print-ready artwork for production using Adobe Illustrator or similar software.
• Apply and weed vinyl graphics; prepare substrates and surfaces for installation.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and client specifications.
• Collaborate with design and installation teams to ensure accuracy from layout to finished sign.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

About the job

The ideal candidate is a skilled and motivated Sign Maker with experience in both fabrication and graphic design, who enjoys bringing creative designs to life — from concept through production — and has hands-on experience working with materials, printers, and software used in the commercial signage industry. This position requires craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of both digital design and physical sign production.

• Experience: 2–8 years in commercial sign fabrication, vinyl production, or related trades.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Safely operate shop equipment.
• Graphic Design Skills:
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator (required); familiarity with Photoshop, FlexiSign, or Onyx RIP.
  • Ability to create layouts for dimensional letters, print graphics, and vehicle wraps.
  • Understands color management, print setup, and contour cutting workflows.
• Technical / Fabrication Skills:
  • Proficient with vinyl plotters, laminators, large format printers, and basic hand tools.
  • Experience working with aluminum, acrylic, PVC, and LED components.
  • Comfortable reading shop drawings and measuring accurately.
