Job summary

ZP Better Together, LLC is seeking a part-time interpreter to provide high-quality ASL/English/Spanish interpreting via video in a call center and onsite as needed. Candidates must have fluent ASL, strong English and Spanish skills, accurate interpreting abilities, and strict adherence to NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities include delivering video relay service, interpreting across settings, and maintaining professional conduct and customer service.

Qualifications

• Fluent ASL, spoken English and Spanish required.
• Accurate interpretation with knowledge of Deaf culture.
• Adherence to NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Three to five years interpreting experience preferred.
• State licensure or credentials if applicable.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Communication Center Manager, the Interpreter will provide high quality professional ASL/English/Spanish interpreting through video in a call center and on-site at various customer locations when needed. Interpreters must possess fluent American Sign Language, spoken English language skills and spoken Spanish skills, accurate interpreting skills, and thorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Job Requirements

• Must be able to work 24 hours per week
• Must pass the company's English/ASL and Spanish/ASL interpreting skills assessment
• Must attend and successfully complete a 40-hour New Hire Training
• We are hiring for the following shifts: Monday - Friday: 1:00pm - 10:00pm PST (4:00pm - 1:00am EST) Weekends: 7:00am - 10:00pm PST (10:00am - 1:00am EST)

• Provide effective video relay service, video remote interpreting, and onsite interpreting for consumers
• Support and model the company's mission and values
• Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues
• Exhibit professional behavior at all times including punctuality and preparedness for shifts, respectful and collaborative interaction with colleagues and supervisors, and timely and accurate record keeping
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined by the company and all FCC regulations
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies
• Multi-task between interpreting effectively and utilizing video-based technology
• Participate in company-sponsored training for Professional Development
• Exhibit the ability to meet performance expectations with minimal supervision
• Possess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in all settings
• Ability to independently travel. Where driving is required, access to a vehicle, valid drivers license and required insurance.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• Fluent ASL, spoken English language skills and spoken Spanish language skills
• Able to provide accurate interpretation
• Understanding of Deaf culture
• Thorough knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
• Three to five years of experience in interpreting (preferred but not required)
• As applicable, state licensure or state-required credentials
• You must be 18 years or older to apply
