Job summary

Culpeper County School District is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to provide educational interpreting services for deaf/hard of hearing students within the Culpeper, Virginia schools. This role includes sign language interpreting, transliteration, and supporting IEP accommodations.

The interpreter will work closely with classroom teachers, the IEP team, and families to ensure effective communication and access to education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• VQAS Level III, RID certified interpreter, TECUnit translator, or EIPA-3.5 required.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and sign language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational interpreting services for deaf/hard of hearing students in general or special education settings.
• Interpret all classroom and school activities; may include cued speech, oral transliteration, and transcription.
• Provide voice interpreting as needed and interpret for school functions outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with IEP team and teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries; communicate effectively with staff and families.
