An established industry player is seeking dedicated Licensed Sign Language Interpreters to join their Deaf Services Department. Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for two (2) Licensed Sign Language Interpreters, one (1) on 1st Shift and one (1) on 2nd Shift, to work in the Deaf Services Department; specifically, on a co-ed deaf unit. The primary focus of this position is to provide interpreting services for patients who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders and to hospital staff that support these patients within a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate works well with others, works great under pressure, and is extremely flexible with scheduling.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday. On-Call coverage is required for weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule amongst a team of four (4) Sign Language Interpreters. Flexibility is required on a daily basis to meet patient needs.

1st Shift: 8:00am - 5:00pm N/A
2nd Shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm 10% Weekday
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Management prefers candidates with the following:
Bachelor’s degree in an interpreter training program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional interpreting experience in a community, business, or government program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
If applicable as defined by GS 90D, meets the requirements for licensure as determined by the North Carolina Interpreter and Transliterator Licensing Board.
