Job summary

Las Cruces Public Schools is hiring a qualified sign language interpreter to provide accurate sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation within the district. A valid NAD Level III+ or EIPA 4.0 and NM PED licensure are required, with eligibility for a 5-year Provisional Licensure if applicable.

Applicants must submit the usual documents and will undergo an FBI fingerprint background check as part of the hiring process.

Qualifications

• Must hold NAD Level III or higher certification and/or EIPA 4.0.
• Eligible for a 5-year Provisional Licensure through the NM Sign Language Interpreting Practice Board.
• Valid New Mexico PED License.
• Provide accurate sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation/transliteration.

Job description

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess a current certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., Level III or above by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), and/or 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) OR
• Eligible to qualify for a 5-year Provisional Licensure through the New Mexico Sign Language Interpreting Practice Board. (Provisional licensed interpreters should have already completed or have proof of plans to complete the EIPA Pre-Hire screening)
• Valid New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) License
• Provide accurate sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation/transliteration.
