Job summary

A leading company seeks a part-time Sign Language Interpreter to support effective communication for the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and relevant certifications, ensuring quality interaction between individuals who are deaf and hearing. This role requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree, alongside the ability to communicate fluently in both Spoken English and American Sign Language.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 10 years or Master's Degree plus 6 years of relevant experience required.
• National Association of the Deaf (NAD) III Certification or better is required.
• Prior DoD/USMC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services in ASL for deaf/hard of hearing individuals.
• Participate in meetings to facilitate communication between deaf and hearing individuals.
• Train other interpreters as needed.

ManTech seeks a part-time Sign Language Interpreter to support the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, Science & Technology Division in Stafford, VA

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Provide interpreting services to individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing in an effective and appropriate manner and in the preferred mode established by the individual.
• Participate in meetings and conversations to transmit spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and/or gestures for communication between deaf and hearing individuals to enhance the quality of interaction between deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
• Ensure relevant information is conveyed to relief interpreters prior to ending a session or when appropriate.
• Training other interpreters as needed.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
• National Association of the Deaf (NAD) III or better is required
• Must be able to communicate fluently in Spoken English and American Sign Language
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior DoD/USMC experience, experience in the Intelligence Community
  
  

Clearance Requirements

• Current active TS/SCI clearance
  
  

Physical Requirements

• The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations
