Job summary

Orange County High is seeking a dedicated Sideline Cheer Coach for the Winter season. This full-time role focuses on creating a positive, inclusive environment for student-athletes and building competitive cheer teams.

The coach will plan practices, lead performances at games and events, collaborate with staff, ensure safety, and mentor athletes to grow on and off the field. The ideal candidate has high school or collegiate coaching experience and strong knowledge of technique and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching cheerleading at high school or collegiate level preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cheer techniques, choreography, and safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
• Strong organizational skills and task management.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Positive attitude and passion for mentoring athletes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans to enhance cheerleading skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Coach and lead the cheer team during games, competitions, and community events.
• Collaborate with other coaches, athletic staff, and school administration to promote a positive and healthy cheerleading program.
• Organize and oversee cheerleading events, including tryouts, fundraisers, and team-building activities.
• Provide constructive feedback and individualized support to cheerleaders to help them reach their full potential.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and events, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Maintain open lines of communication with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance throughout the season, making adjustments to training and strategies as necessary.
• Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and teamwork among all team members.
• Attend all necessary meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
